When art meets history
In the centre of the village of Sachseln, the Bruder Klaus Museum invites you to rediscover works of contemporary art, items from the museum collection and historic buildings in all their diversity.
Permanent exhibitions on Niklaus von Flüe and Dorothee Wyss
The permanent exhibitions paint a multifaceted portrait of the mystic, politician and popular saint from the 15th century. Based on historical facts, it follows in the footsteps of Niklaus von Flüe and his wife Dorothee right up to the present day. Sound and image productions, music and film excerpts, room installations and historical objects offer a varied introduction to the life and work of these influential personalities.
--> April 13 to November 1, 2025
Temporary exhibition “Peace - Мир”
The topic of peace is unfortunately more topical today than it has been for many decades, particularly due to its antithesis, war. The exhibition “Peace - Мир” focuses on what artists associate with the term “peace” and shows contemporary works on the subject. It primarily takes the perspective of those for whom peace is currently only a utopia, a state far removed from the reality of their own lives. To this end, the Museum Bruder Klaus has invited artists from Ukraine to exhibit their works in Sachseln. The works are complemented by works by Swiss artists.
