Oberhofen Castle – eight centuries of magic
Right next to the Oberhofen landing stage on Lake Thun lies the romantic castle complex with its medieval keep and picturesque lakeside tower surrounded by the most beautiful gardens in the Alpine region.
The Neuchâtel-Prussian family of counts called de Pourtalès bought the castle in 1884 and converted the complex into a summer residence, giving the castle the look it has today Since 1954, the museum has been established inside the castle showing the history of its past inhabitants.
The Oriental Smoking Room at the top of the tower offers a unique experience and a spectacular view over the lake and mountains. The castle chapel features impressive murals dating from the 15th century.
From June, in the new exhibition "Always at yours service" in the former servants' wing with its original wallpaper, stories will be told about servants in the 19th century.
The castle park with its 60 metre long arcade and striking groups of trees invites you to linger and enjoy.
