Hiking paradise Gstaad
The Gstaad holiday region with over 300 kilometres of sign-posted, well-maintained paths and trails is a genuine paradise for hikers. In a network that has many branches and thanks to the mountain railways and easily accessible public transport, there is something to suit every taste: from easy family walks to Trail Running Routes and longer hikes lasting one or more days.
Hiking with children
Saaniland has been extended by two adventure trails. These let families actively discover the local flora and fauna, the history of music as well as the most beautiful viewpoints of the region. On the adventure trail "Saanis sound adventure trail" (Saanen-Gstaad) various sounds and noises await. At 18 experience stations, children discover traditional folk as well as classical music in a playful way - including wooden sounds, animal voices and eavesdropping tubes. The second trail "Saani's mountain experience" leads from Saanenmöser to Schönried. Here, together with Saani - the cheerfully cheeky Saanen goat - children practice their stamina and coordination at 17 stations so that they become "as mountain-ready as a Saane goat".
The Rinderberg-Horneggli high-altitude
The Rinderberg-Horneggli high-altitude walk is very popular. It starts at the Zweisimmen mountain station on the Rinderbergbahn. The route firstly goes in the direction of Gandlauenengrat and right from the start there are the most beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. From Gandlauenengrat, the route follows the signs to Parwengen, from where there is a fantastic view down into the Simmental. You then reach the Hornberg with its big mountain restaurant via a pleasant, high path. The field of view opens up in the direction of the Fribourg and Vaud Alps. You should then spot Schönried far below. The picturesque descent finally runs via Horneggli down to Schönried.
Walking time: approx. 3 h 5 mins.
Season: May to October
Incline: 70 m climb and 800 m descent
Cyclists and adventure-lovers:
